Stand with Jewish Mental Health Professionals

Across the country, Jewish mental health professionals are facing increasing levels of discrimination—targeted in academic institutions, licensing processes, clinical training programs, and professional associations.  We are actively building a confidential list of attorneys with expertise in higher education, employment and civil rights law we can provide our members when they seek peer support to ensure they have the support they need.

How it Works

When a Jewish mental health professional reaches out to UJMHP with a legal concern, we try to connect them to peer support.  When appropriate, we can provide our members with a list of attorneys in their area who may have expertise in the matter.  We ask attorneys in our network to acknowledge the request and respond to prospective clients.   In the event that the case has merit, we ask lawyers to provide a brief , pro-bono consultation.   If there is a decision to represent, that will be a decision between the attorney and the prospective client. about the terms of the representation (hourly, contingency, etc.)

Common Issues

  • Institutional antisemitism in hiring, promotion, or credentialing

  • Hostile DEI mandates and ideological coercion

  • Retaliation for Jewish or Zionist identity

  • Censorship and exclusion from professional spaces

  • Unjust ethics complaints or board actions
